Lee Steere Stakes 2013 – Ascot Race Preview

August 15th, 2013

The Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes is set to take place at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday November 9, 2013.

The race takes place over a distance of 1,400 metres and is worth $200,000 in prize money.

The 2013 Lee Steere Stakes is run under weight-for-age conditions and is open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards.

Scheduled as part of Lee Steere Stakes Day, the race shares its program with the Listed Ascot Gold Cup and the Listed Fairetha Stakes.

Last year’s Lee Steere Stakes was won by Hard Ball Get.

Hard Ball Get won the race by almost a length ahead of Fuddle Dee Duddle, who finished second, and Passion Cantana, who rounded out the placings in third position.

The now four-year-old had placed second in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes prior to his Lee Steere Stakes win.

Hard Ball Get has won three of his four race starts and has earned more than $218,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Aussie Rules gelding has not had a start since winning the 2013 Lee Steere Stakes last November and will look at returning in time for the upcoming spring racing carnival.

Hard Ball Get was nominated for a $50,000 Handicap at Ascot Racecourse in February, however, was scratched from the race.
